My Silk Press Experience/Hair Update

Hello family!
Today I'll be sharing with you all my silk press experience and giving you guys an update on my hair.
So back in July, I decided to get a silk press because I wanted something different. My hair is normally in it's coily/curly state, so I decided to switch things up. I went to a specialized natural hair salon to get it done. I read the reviews and all prior to making my appointment because I did not want to have a bad experience. Nobody got time for that! Your girl already have healthy hair and I'm not trying to have fried hair.
The salon I went to is called "Natural Tresses" and I had an amazing experience. They treated me so well, and I loved that my stylist talked me through the entire process and answered my many questions! The price is going to make some of you guys cringe though... lol. I paid $85. Before you stop reading, let me explain! The $85 includes a deep treatment, trim, and of course the "silk press." If you don't want the deep treatment and trim, go ahead and subtract $20 and you'll just be paying $65. If it's your first time though, I highly suggest that you do everything and from that point on, you can decide what's best for you.
Did your curls revert?
They sure did! What's funny is this though... my curls are more defined now than before my salon experience. I think its because of the deep treatment that was used in my hair. (It's just a speculation. I'm not 100% sure)
Did you get heat damage?
I didn't get any heat damage which is such a blessing. I knew I wouldn't though because I hardly ever use heat on my hair. (You get heat damage if you repeatedly apply heat to your hair). If you don't, there's no need to worry! Overall, I had a great experience and I will definitely go back to the same salon.
Natural hair update:
Throughout my 2 year, almost 3 year natural hair journey, I realized some changes and I wanted to share them with you all.
1. My hair texture changed and is still changing. In the beginning of my hair journey, my hair was a lot more coarse and my curl pattern was 4a/4b. Now, my hair texture is a lot more finer and my curl pattern is more so 3c/4a. (My curls are getting looser over time)
2. My hair porosity changed. Initially, I had high porosity hair (absorbs moisture easily but also loses moisture quickly). Now, I have low porosity hair (resists moisture, but once moisture enters, its locked in for awhile).
Those are the two drastic changes! I wanted to share that update to show that our hair becomes different over time and it is essential for us to pay attention to those changes. I also wanted to encourage someone to be patient with their natural journey. Our hair takes time to flourish and in due time, you will be pleased.
Until next time my loves!
Love, Kat ! (:
